The final architecture depends on the site's single-line diagram, sensors and protocols. Internal battery management remains the responsibility of the BMS.
Make maintenance decisions earlier
Trends and alarms to investigate deviations.
Shorten diagnostic time
Field information available to operations teams.
Measure before scaling
A pilot with a baseline and acceptance criteria.
01 / Solutions with a purpose
Protect the point where energy powers operations.
In BESS, cogeneration and industrial facilities, continuity also depends on feeders, switchgear and transformers. We select measurement and monitoring solutions according to each circuit's criticality.
01
IEDs for protection and electrical diagnostics
Digital relays combining measurement, event recording and protection functions. Voltage, current and fault information supports circuit supervision.
DIGITAL RELAYS · FEEDERS · SWITCHGEAR
DECISION SUPPORTED
Locate the source of an anomaly and coordinate the response with the plant's protection scheme.
Measure during the pilot: diagnostic time, event-record completeness and response to controlled tests.
02
Electrical and thermal transformer monitoring
Omni Trafo monitors voltage and current harmonics, load, temperature and phase imbalance. A thermal image relay complements thermal assessment according to the selected configuration.
OMNI TRAFO · THERMAL IMAGE RELAY
DECISION SUPPORTED
Identify overload, exceeded thermal limits and imbalance; investigate signs of phase loss using measurements and configured alarms.
Measure during the pilot: data coverage and validation of harmonic, temperature, load, imbalance and phase-loss alarms.
03
Insulation diagnostics for critical assets
Monitoring of partial discharge, capacitance and dissipation factor in compatible transformers. Coupling and measurement methods are selected after assessing the asset.
PD MONITORING · COUPLERS · PDMS
DECISION SUPPORTED
Prioritize insulation assessment and plan interventions based on evidence of its condition over time.
Selective application: include this layer when the transformer type, available access points and asset criticality justify it.
A monitoring layer connecting power quality with transformer condition across BESS, cogeneration and industrial load cycles.
ConditionSignal to monitorOperational decision
HarmonicsVoltage and current harmonic components and their trends.Investigate distortion and its relationship with converter and load operating conditions.
Thermal limitsMeasured temperature and thermal behavior based on available sensors and models.Assess exceeded limits, cooling performance and the need for intervention.
OverloadCurrent and power compared with the asset's rated values.Review the load profile and coordinate adjustments with the operations team.
Phase imbalanceDifferences in voltage, current and load across phases.Investigate connections and load distribution before the condition worsens.
Phase lossMissing or abnormally low phase voltage, corroborated by current readings and operating context.Investigate the interruption and initiate the agreed response procedure.
Thresholds, alarm persistence and phase-loss logic are configured and validated during the pilot. Monitoring informs decisions; automatic actions depend on the IED and the protection study.
02 / Experience behind the proposal
From research to field application.
The proposal connects R&D work with HVEX portfolio solutions and installation records. References are presented anonymously.
Actual installation documented by HVEX in its partial-discharge monitoring case material.
Experience 01 · Transformer monitoring
Remote asset visibility
The Omni Trafo case documents smart monitoring applications and a platform for viewing electrical quantities, temperature and operating information.
Application in BESS and cogeneration: assess the connection transformer and correlate load, harmonics, temperature and imbalance with operating conditions.
Experience 02 · Partial-discharge measurement
From electrical behavior to diagnostics
The PD coupler material records installations in substations and power generation, capacitive-coupling measurements, analysis tools and alarms.
Applicable R&D: the PD measurement development program identified by HVEX is reflected in the capabilities of its monitoring portfolio. The scope is selected for each asset.
These references support technical experience. Savings, fault reduction and returns for each application will be assessed using site data and criteria agreed during the pilot.
03 / Value for the investor
An investment decision. A measurable basis.
The business case is built on loss exposure, maintenance costs and the total solution cost. The pilot generates evidence for the scaling decision.
PROCESS CONTINUITY
Assess the cost of one hour of interruption at the critical load and the contribution of monitoring to timely intervention.
MAINTENANCE EFFICIENCY
Compare diagnostic hours, inspections and site visits with the baseline. Validate each saving against operational records.
ASSET RISK
Document detected deviations and actions taken. Treat avoided fault losses as risk scenarios until sufficient evidence is available.
SCALING CRITERION
Proceed when data reliability, operational usefulness and the economic assessment meet the criteria defined by both parties.
Discussion tool · No prefilled assumptions
How many hours would justify the investment?
Enter values for the same period to calculate the downtime threshold that would need to be avoided to cover costs.
Calculations run locally. No information is transmitted.
Threshold = max. (0, total cost − validated savings) ÷ hourly cost. This is a simple threshold, not a savings forecast or a guaranteed return. Avoid double counting operating savings and downtime.
04 / Strategic partnership
One site. A clear scope. A shared decision.
We propose a 90-day reference pilot, subject to site availability and approval of the technical scope. IEDs and transformer monitoring will form its core.
